The Manfredi family of Pieve di Teco descends from a branch of the Manfredi dynasty that came from Faenza, having lost their lordship there in 1501 following the siege of Faenza by Cesare Borgia, known as the Valentino, son of Pope Alexander VI. Around that time, Carlo Manfredi—son of Federico Manfredi, the Bishop of Faenza—arrived in Pieve di Teco and began construction of the family palace in 1505. The Manfredi family took residence between the 15th and 16th centuries and still live there to this day.
