The Castello della Lucertola is the historic heart of Apricale, perched at the highest point of the village. Dating back to the 11th century, the castle once served as a defensive fortress and residence for the local lords. Today, its atmospheric stone walls and towers house a small museum, showcasing the history, legends, and traditions of Apricale and the surrounding valley. From the castle’s terraces, visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the medieval rooftops, olive groves, and distant mountains — a perfect blend of history, culture, and breathtaking scenery.
